Representation Matters.
Statistics from 2018 show that BIPOC children are significantly underrepresented in the books that they have access to.
While we may have started seeing more BIPOC representation in children’s literature since the murder of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, we are still a long way from all children having equal representation in the literature within their learning environments.
Help us achieve our goal of promoting equity and access to books that celebrate diversity within Alberta schools.
